The genre for which the Russian cinema was famous in the person of Georgy Danelia, Eldar Ryazanov and Alla Surikova. The surreal intonations of Bunuel even appear in the film. About the film:
The ILLUSION Film Company, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, is releasing the premiere of the 2023 film by the debutant director Polina Lazareva «Chaika».
A love triangle between two young girls and a successful writer in a midlife crisis. An ironic, slightly absurd story about people passionately longing for love, but their own infantilism stands in the way of happiness. Entangled in their dreams, desires and fantasies, the characters do not notice what their real life turns into.
Polina Lazareva wrote the script on her own for the debut film. Filming took place in St. Petersburg. The roles are played by Yuri Bykov, Vera Kincheva, Alexander Lazarev, Svetlana Nemolyaeva, Olesya Zheleznyak, Evgenia Kuznetsova, Irada Zeynalova, Nelly Popova, Maria Pavlovskaya, Alexander Vasiliev and others.
The film is currently in post-production. The premiere is expected in the fall of 2023.
