START OF SHOOTING
On July 11, 2020, the Illusion film company, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the participation of the Mosfilm film concern, began filming the feature film Parent by Vlad Furman.

The cast was stellar: Mikhail Porechenkov, Maria Mironova, Maria Shukshina, Vlad Furman, Vsevolod Tsurilo, Daniil Vakhrushev, Angelina Strechina. Also taking part in the film are Nelly Popova, Oksana Bazilevich, Vitaly Kovalenko and Alexey Furmanov.

The film is based on true stories from the late 1990s about teenagers trapped in drug addiction and parents trying to save them. This topic, unfortunately, does not lose its relevance until now, making the film "Parent" a kind of parable.

Filming lasted two months and was often complicated by the changeable weather in St. Petersburg: for example, on July 11, on the night of filming the most difficult shift with chases and stunts, it was pouring with rain.

We filmed the main scenes on the Neva embankment and the exit from the Trinity Bridge towards the Summer Garden.

The stunt coordinator was Oleg Korytin (President of the Stunt Guild of St. Petersburg), who also took part in the filming, driving a car into which a truck crashes at speed.
"The end of the century, two parents, two fathers in a tough fight for their children, for themselves and for the future," Mikhail Porechenkov shared in an interview.

CONTINUATION...
On July 23, Maria Mironova joined the shooting.

"This role is one of the most difficult and extreme in terms of tension," Maria shared in the process.

COMPLETE COMPOSITION
The entire cast and crew gathered for the shoot on July 28.
The first location was the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal. The change turned out to be very difficult due to the large number of passers-by, as well as in connection with those who wanted to take a photo with the actors.

COVERING NEVSKY
On one of the shooting days, August 13, Nevsky Prospekt had to be blocked.
Angelina Strechina appears in the frame, playing the role of the daughter of Mikhail Porechenkov.

According to the plot, Mikhail is looking for his daughter in the city center. Daniil Vakhrushev also reappears in the frame, familiar to many from the films "SuperBobrovs", "Yolki" and numerous roles in TV series.

For several shifts, the shooting took place in one of the apartments in Kupchino, where Vsevolod Tsurilo showed his acting courage, acting in explicit scenes. Despite the complexity of filming, Tsurilo is very convincing in a negative role.

The second location was the village of Kommunar, where films have not been made since the 80s, and which has been preserved in its original form. The cameraman Kirill Moshkovich remembered the village, thanks to whom the ideal atmosphere of that time was found.
By the way, Nelli Popova, the actress and wife of Vlad Furman, was not only in the frame on the set, but throughout the shooting days, supporting her husband and helping with playback.

FINAL DAY OF SHOOTING
Filming of the rave party took place in the courtyards of Konyushennaya Square, where the main raves of the city really took place in the 90s.

The co-author of the script for the film was the actress Kristina Kuzmina, who worked as a DJ in those years, which helped a lot in recreating the atmosphere.

"Were real events taken as a basis? Yes. We relied on memories. There is no direct speech of specific people. But we tried to reproduce in watercolor and convey the spirit, events and problems of that time. As a tribute to the memory of the departed, we used some prototypes and names," said Christina.

The shooting involved young artists from St. Petersburg theaters.
